History
CBC has had a rich history, starting with two Italian immigrants, Costabile and Gianicola Matarazzo, who decided in 1926 to manufacture their own hunting and shooting ammunitions, rather than importing them. This is how the “National Ammunition and Cartridge Factory” was created, in the city of Sao Paulo, in Brazil.
The company has its first experience in the military segment, supplying 7mm cartridges to São Paulo troops during the Constitutional Revolution.
With the change in capital control to the American Company Remington Arms and English Company Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), the National Ammunition and Cartridge Factory is named CBC – Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos [Brazilian Cartridge Company].
During World War II, CBC dedicated its whole production to the Brazilian troops, which fought alongside the Allied powers.
CBC starts the production of centerfire ammunition (22 LR).
CBC starts manufacturing hunting and sport-shooting weapons with Remington Arms Company technology.
CBC inaugurates its Primer Mixture Factory, based on lead styphnate.
CBC starts exporting the 12.7x99mm (.50) in several versions.
CBC starts building its new ammunition factory in the city of Ribeirão Pires, State of São Paulo.
CBC becomes 100% Brazilian-capital organization when three of its former directors acquired the company.
CBC supplies the first batch of cartridges 20x110mm HEIT-SD (High Explosive Incendiary Tracer with Self Destruction) to the Brazilian Navy.
CBC starts exporting commercial ammunition to the United States.
The Powder Factory is opened in the city of Ribeirão Pires, being one of the most modern factories in the world.
CBC launches the MAGTECH brand, to be used in all exports of commercial and law enforcement products.
CBC opens its new pistol and revolver Central Fire ammunitions factory, the most modern in the world.
CBC receives the International Quality ISO 9001:2000 Certificate. In the same year, its new factory is inaugurated in the Rio Grande do Sul (South of Brazil), for production of shotshells and firearms.
CBC acquires the ammunition factory MEN – Metallwerk Elisenhütte GmbH, located in the city of Nassau, in Germany.
CBC acquires the ammunition factory Sellier&Bellot, located in the city of Vlašim, in Czech Republic.
